Extended Conversation History Retention Policy
Samuel Su
on July 6, 2026We are excited to extend Chat Data's conversation history retention policy, making it easier for teams to keep useful customer context available for longer while keeping retention limits clear by plan.
What's Changing
- Longer plan-based history windows. The maximum conversation history retention period has increased across self-serve plans: Free now supports up to 0.5 years, Entry up to 1 year, Standard up to 3 years, and Professional up to 5 years.
- Simple year conversion. Pricing uses 360 days as 1 year for retention display, so the plan matrix reads cleanly while the system still enforces exact day limits behind the scenes.
- Shorter retention is still configurable. Customers can choose shorter chatbot-level retention windows for conversation history and captured leads/customer data when they want tighter data minimization.
- Clear plan boundaries. Custom conversation retention settings cannot exceed the maximum allowed by the current workspace plan.
Retention by Plan
| Plan | Maximum conversation history retention |
|---|---|
| Free | 0.5 years (180 days) |
| Entry | 1 year (360 days) |
| Standard | 3 years (1,080 days) |
| Professional | 5 years (1,800 days) |
How It Works
- Conversation history is plan-aware. The daily retention cleanup respects the workspace's active plan limit.
- Configurable, with guardrails. You can still configure shorter chatbot-level retention for conversation history and captured leads/customer data, while longer conversation-history values are capped by your plan.
- Pricing stays readable. The pricing comparison now presents conversation history retention in years where possible, based on the 360-day convention.
Where to Review It
