AI Actions in Workflow – Granular Control for Your AI Agent!
Samuel Su
on March 5, 2026We're excited to announce that AI Actions are now available inside the Workflow AI Conversation Block, giving you granular control over what your AI agent can do at every step of a workflow!
What's New
You can now configure AI Actions directly within each AI Conversation Block node in your workflow. This means you can:
- Select specific actions per node - Choose exactly which AI actions are available at each step of your workflow.
- Built-in actions - Google Search, Order Tracking, and Appointment UI triggering are available out of the box alongside your custom actions.
- Access 833+ prebuilt MCP apps - Google Calendar, Slack, GitHub, Notion, and hundreds more are ready to use via MCP integrations.
- Pass variables between nodes - Chain action outputs as inputs to the next step for seamless multi-step automation.
Why It Matters
Previously, AI Actions were configured at the chatbot level. Now, with workflow-level control, you get:
- Precision - Each node only has access to the actions it needs, reducing errors and improving reliability.
- Chaining - Pass data between workflow nodes to build complex, multi-step AI agent pipelines.
- Long-Term Memory - Your AI agent can remember and act on backend data across workflow steps.
Real-World Example: Google Calendar Management
Imagine a workflow where a user asks to delete a calendar event:
- Step 1 - AI Action retrieves the event ID from Google Calendar based on the user's description.
- Step 2 - The event ID is saved as a workflow variable.
- Step 3 - AI Action uses the event ID variable to delete the event from Google Calendar.
This kind of multi-step, variable-driven automation is now possible with AI Actions in Workflow!
What You Can Do Now
Build robust, multi-step workflows that leverage AI actions for:
- Calendar and Scheduling - Retrieve, create, update, and delete events across platforms.
- Email and Messaging - Send notifications, create tickets, and manage communications.
- Data and CRM - Look up records, update fields, and sync data between systems.
- Developer Tools - Create issues, manage repositories, and trigger CI/CD pipelines.
