Turn a phone number and an optional first message into a wa.me click-to-chat link and a QR code. Free, no sign-up, and it runs entirely in your browser.
It is a URL in the form https://wa.me/<number> that opens a WhatsApp chat with that number, with no need to save it as a contact. Adding ?text= puts a message in the chat box ready to send. The number must be the full international number as digits only.[*]
Start with + and the country code; spaces, dashes and brackets are removed automatically.
Your link
A store puts this link on its order-confirmation page, with the number of the WhatsApp line its Chat Data agent answers:
https://wa.me/14155550132?text=Hi%2C%20I%20need%20help%20with%20my%20order%20%23
Use a different pre-filled message per placement (receipt, ad, product page) and you can tell from the first message where each chat started.
A link brings people into a conversation; someone still has to reply. A Chat Data agent connected to your number through the WhatsApp Business Platform (Cloud API) or WhatsApp Web answers from your own documents and website, captures leads, and passes chats to your team when needed.[*]
See how the WhatsApp AI chatbot worksA wa.me link is WhatsApp's click-to-chat URL. Opening https://wa.me/ followed by a full international phone number starts a WhatsApp chat with that number, on the phone app or WhatsApp Web, without the person saving the number to their contacts first.
Type the number starting with + and the country code, for example +44 20 7946 0958 for the UK number 020 7946 0958. Spaces, dashes and brackets are fine, and the generator drops a domestic leading 0 (as in UK numbers) only where the country does. The finished link uses digits only: https://wa.me/442079460958.
The text parameter puts your message in the chat box when the chat opens. Spaces and symbols are URL-encoded, so "Hi there" becomes Hi%20there. The person still taps Send, and can edit the text first.
No. The link and QR code are built in your browser from what you type. Your number and message are never sent to Chat Data, saved, or included in analytics; we only count that the tool was used. They reach WhatsApp only if you open the link or scan the QR code yourself. Closing the tab clears it.
Yes, if the number in the link is connected to a Chat Data agent through the WhatsApp Business Platform (Cloud API) or WhatsApp Web. The pre-filled text is only a draft until the customer taps Send; once sent, it arrives as their first message and the agent replies to it like any other message.
